One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in the Blue Mountains today.
About 1pm (Saturday 12 October 2024), emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, Wentworth Falls, following reports of a crash.
On arrival, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command found a sedan, which had crashed into a rock wall.
The driver – a man aged in his 70's – was taken by emergency services to Katoomba Hospital for mandatory testing.
The passenger of the vehicle – a woman also aged in her 70's – was trapped for a short time.
She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she died a short time later.
The Great Western Highway was closed eastbound to heavy vehicles and diversions were in place. Check www.livetraffic.com for more information.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are underway.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
