Police Arrest for Damage to Vehicles in Peppimenarti

Northern Territory Police have responded to a disturbance that occurred this morning in Peppimenarti.

Around 7am, local police members were approached by a woman who reported alcohol being consumed at her residence which is in a restricted area.

Police attended the residence, and were confront by 6 adults, before a search of the premises was conducted.

Six bottles of spirits were seized.

Residents allegedly threatened the officers and subsequently threw rocks at the police vehicle as the officers retreated resulting in damage to the vehicles.

The group later continued to allegedly throw rocks at the police compound and members within it.

One alleged offender has been arrested with further arrests expected.

Senior Sergeant Erica Gibson said "The actions of these individuals are simply unacceptable.

"We take the safety of our officers very seriously and such reckless and dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated.

"If you behave in this way, expect to be prosecuted.

"We are committed to ensuring that our officers can perform their duties without fear of harm."
