Four people have been arrested following inquiries into a carjacking in the state's north today.
About 3.30am (Thursday 18 April 2024), a car stopped behind a woman reversing her car out of a driveway on Bloomfield Street, Gunnedah.
Two people – one armed with a knife - approached the woman demanding she exit her car before they threw her to the ground and fled the location in her Holden Commodore.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 630am, during patrols of the area police receive reports of a crash at the intersection of Stock and Bridge Road, Gunnedah, involving a Holden Commodore and a Ford Focus.
Four people were sighted fleeing the area and police set up a perimeter.
A short time later four boys – aged 15,16,17 and 18 – were arrested and taken to Gunnedah Police Station where they are assisting police with their inquiries.
Checks reveal the Ford was stolen from a home on Hunter Street, Gunnedah, overnight.
