Three teenagers will appear in court today charged following a pursuit with police in Sydney's west overnight.
About 11.30pm (Saturday 17 February 2024), officers attached to North West Metropolitan Operational Support Group (OSG) were patrolling the Rooty Hill area when they attempted to stop a BMW – reportedly stolen from a Blakehurst home on Friday (16 February 2024).
The BMW failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated before being terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
About 12.40am (Sunday 18 February 2024), the BMW was seen travelling on Doonside Road, Doonside, and with assistance of PolAir, the vehicle was monitored.
A second pursuit was initiated at Blacktown, where road spikes were successfully deployed with the BMW coming to a stop on Quinn Avenue, Seven Hills.
The occupants – three boys aged 15, 16 and 12 and a 16-year-old girl – were arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station.
The 15-year-old driver was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licenced person drive vehicle on road and breach of bail.
The two 16-year-olds were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. The girl was also charged with breach of bail.
They will appear before a children's court today (Sunday 18 February 2024).
The 12-year-old was released and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders' Act.
