Police Arrest Man After Altercation In South Perth

Cannington Detectives have charged a 20-year-old man after an incident in South Perth on Wednesday 17 July 2024, in which a man sustained serious injuries.

It will be alleged about 2.30pm, the accused man was walking on Canning Highway, armed with a knife and in company with another male. They had arranged a meeting with a 35-year-old man.

An altercation occurred between the three males, resulting in the 35-year-old victim being stabbed numerous times. The other two males fled the area on foot.

Later in the afternoon , an 18-year-old man was taken into custody in the vicinity of the Como Bowling Club. He has since been released without charge.

Further inquiries led Cannington Detectives to a residence in High Wycombe and a 20-year-old man was taken into custody. Detectives conducted a search of the residence where they located the knife allegedly used in the South Perth altercation.

A 20-year-old man from High Wycombe has been charged with:

• Grievous Bodily Harm; and

• Possessed an article with intent to injure (disable).

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 18 July 2024.
