Police Arrest Man After Officer Struck In Point Cook

Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following a collision in Point Cook that left a police officer in hospital yesterday.

Police located two people inside an allegedly stolen Mazda SUV on Sneydes Road about 1pm.

The 21-year-old driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene, hit a police vehicle and struck a First Constable, knocking him to the ground.

The female passenger got out of the car and fled the scene on foot.

The injured police officer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was later located in Catalina Court.

With the assistance of the Westgate Alliance Taskforce, the alleged driver was arrested at a property on Campaspe Way in Point Cook about 8am this morning.

He is currently being interviewed by police.
