A man has been taken to a hospital under police guard following a pursuit and crash on the North Coast this morning.
Police were patrolling the Coffs Harbour area about 8am today (Wednesday 25 December 2024), when they saw a station wagon allegedly being driven dangerously.
Highway Patrol officers directed the driver to stop; however, when they allegedly failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns; however, a short time later the vehicle crashed and rolled on the Pacific Highway, Coffs Harbour.
The 22-year-old female passenger – who was thrown from the vehicle on impact – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver, a 27-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries before also being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital where he remains under police guard.
