Police arrest man after stabbing at Wollongong

A man's been arrested after another man was stabbed in the Illawarra earlier this morning.

About 6.15am today (Tuesday 22 June 2021), police were called to a home on Birch Street, East Corrimal, after reports a man had been injured after an altercation with a man, known to him.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and found a 51-year-old man suffering multiple stab wounds to his back.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

A crime scene has been established as inquiries continue.
