A man has been arrested following an alleged stabbing in the state's north today.
About 1.30pm today (Saturday 23 November 2024), emergency services were called to Ravensworth Railway Station, following reports a woman had been stabbed.
On arrival, officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District were told an altercation occurred between two passengers before a woman was stabbed.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a woman believed to be in her 30s for a stab wound to the ribs.
She was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
A short time later, police deployed a Taser and OC spray to arrest a 35-year-old man who was allegedly armed with a knife.
He was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.
The man and woman are believed to be known to each other.
A crime scene has been established on the train and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
