Police Arrest Man After Suspicious Death In Ryde

A man is in police custody following the death of a person found critically injured inside a unit in Ryde yesterday.

Just after 5pm (Saturday 18 January 2025), emergency services were called to a unit on Curzon Street, Ryde, after reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who located and treated an unconscious man inside the home.

The 48-year-old man was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he was declared deceased. He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command established a crime scene and an investigation commenced, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Following inquiries, police attended a home in O'Sullivan Road, Leumeah, about 2.10pm today (Sunday 19 January 2025), where a 34-year-old man was arrested, and a crime scene established.

The man has been taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.
