A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into an alleged assault in Matraville, which left a man in a serious condition.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called to Bunnerong Road about 1.30am (Thursday 9 June 2022) and found a man unconscious on the footpath.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 23-year-old man, before he was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition with head injuries.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested at a home in Maroubra about 2.50pm today.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where charges are expected.
Investigations continue.
