Police Arrest Six After Operation Beni - South Coast

Six people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting break and enter offences on the South Coast.

Operation BENI 2025 was to target stolen motor vehicles and break & enter offences in the South Coast Police District.

The two-day high visibility operation, ran from Wednesday 9 April to Thursday 10 April and involved officers attached to the South Coast Police District including the Proactive Crime Team, Southern Region Operational Support Group, Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders Team, Police Transport Command the NSW Police Dog Unit.

As a result of Operation Beni 2025 the following results were achieved;

6 people arrested

10 charges laid including aggravated break and enters, warrants and property offences,

1 court attendance notice issued

29 bail compliance checks

23 Apprehended Domestic Violence Offender (ADVO) compliance checks

2 drugs detected

3 people searched

Notable incidents include;

About 1.40pm, on Friday 4 April 2025, police were called to a home on Princes Highway, Kiama Heights address following reports of a break and enter. Officers established a crime scene and were told multiple watches, bracelets, an IPAD and PS5 were stolen from the home. Officers commenced an investigation. Following inquiries, about 3pm on Thursday 10 April 2025, officers attached to Southern Region Operational Support Group attended a home in Nowra. They arrested a 25-year-old man hiding in a bedroom. He was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station. He was charged with break and enter house etc steal values less than or equal to $60,000. Police will also allege the man was involved in an aggravated break and enter of a home in Oldham Close, Tomerong about 7.25am on Saturday 16 November 2024, where he allegedly stole a laptop, iPhone, several watches, a ring, gift cards, clothing, sledge hammers, hedge trimmer and whipper snipper. He was also charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000. He was refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court today (Friday 11 April 2025).
