Six men have been arrested over an alleged brawl at a nightclub in Melbourne's southeast, that resulted in an 18-year-old man suffering serious stab wounds.
Police have been told a brawl broke out in the toilet area of a nightclub on Little Chapel Street, about 1am on 16 August, before spilling out into the street.
An 18-year-old man suffered serious stab wounds to his buttocks and groin area, before being placed in an induced coma. He underwent three emergency surgeries for injuries to his mid and lower body.
Following enquiries, detectives from the Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit executed six simultaneous search warrants at homes in Caroline Springs, Donnybrook and South Melbourne, from about 8am on Wednesday 28 August.
Police seized mobile phones and other electronic devices, as well as clothing relevant to the investigation.
A 19-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested at a home on Barn Elms Parade, Caroline Springs and charged with recklessly causing serious injury, assault-related offences, affray, and failing to comply with direction to assist. He appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court yesterday, where he was remanded to re-appear today.
Five other men were arrested, including:
• A 19-year-old South Melbourne man
• An 18-year-old Caroline Springs man
• A 25-year-old Donnybrook man
• A 24-year-old Narre Warren man
They were charged with assault-related offences including affray, and failing to comply with direction to assist, and were bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 11 November.
A 21-year-old South Melbourne man was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
