Police Arrest Teen After Carjacking In Cranbourne

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested by police following aggravated carjacking in Cranbourne overnight.

Police have been told two friends were sitting in their car, in a carpark off Thompsons Road, when they were approached by a male about 12.10am.

The boy engaged the pair in conversation before he made demands for the car and produced a knife.

The two young women ran from the vehicle before they were able to raise the alarm.

Cranbourne members quickly responded and arrested the teen as he tried to run from the scene.

The Cranbourne boy has been interviewed and charged with aggravated carjacking.

It is expected he will appear before a children's court today where police will seek his remand.

The women, aged 18 and 19, weren't physically injured.
