Five teenagers are in police custody after a pursuit in Sydney's south-west this morning.
Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were patrolling Hackett Road at Abbotsbury about 4.20am (Sunday 21 February 2021), following a report that the occupants in a white Honda CRV were breaking into parked cars.
When police saw the vehicle, they directed the driver to stop; however, allege the driver instead accelerated from the scene and a pursuit was initiated, reaching speeds of 120km/h in the signposted 70km/h zone.
The vehicle was followed to Elizabeth Drive at Cecil Hills where it hit a power pole.
Four boys, aged between 14 and 17, and a girl aged 17, were arrested at the scene.
A 16-year-old boy from Liverpool, a 17-year-old girl from Cabramatta West, and a 17-year-old boy from Prestons were taken to Liverpool Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
A 14-year-old boy from Prestons and a 15-year-old boy from Cabramatta have been taken to Fairfield Police Station.
Inquiries have revealed the 2018-model white Honda CRV was stolen from Damascus Street, Bardia, a few hours earlier.
Police are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision from Damascus Street or Hackett Road between 12am-4.30am today to contact Fairfield Police Station.
