Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have this morning arrested three men as part of their investigation into a fatal fire in Sunshine North in February of this year.

Four warrants were executed at 6am this morning at residential addresses in Kurunjang and Melton South (3).

Three men were taken into custody and will now be interviewed by police, including a 19-year-old Melton South man, a 19-year-old Kurunjang man and an 18-year-old Melton South man.

A gel blaster was seized from the Kurunjang address, while police located a sword, two machetes, two knives and a quantity of what appears to be cannabis at one of the Melton South addresses.

This morning's activity follows an incident where emergency services were called to reports of a panel shop on fire on Bunnett Street just after 4am on Friday, 23 February.

The Bunnett Street business was set alight at 3.51am before the fire subsequently spread to a building behind the panel shop, a factory on Marshall Street, which two people were sleeping inside of at the time.

Tragically, the two men, a 42-year-old and a 48-year-old both from Sunshine North, died at the scene.

A white dual cab ute believed to have been utilised in the incident was later found burnt out on Gisborne Road in Coimadai around 5.20am on Saturday, 24 February.
