A man and a woman have been arrested following a violent disturbance at Mawson Lakes.
About 10.30pm on Saturday 28 May a man was driving along Port Gawler Road, Port Gawler when he came across a vehicle on fire and a man lying on the ground.
The witness took the injured man to the Lyell McEwin Hospital and alerted police.
The 31-year-old victim had sustained a number of injuries including a gun-shot wound to his back. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
Barossa police attended at Port Gawler and located the victims burnt out Toyota sedan.
Northern District police commenced an investigation and subsequently identified a crime scene at Mawson Lakes yesterday, Sunday 29 May.
It will be alleged that the victim had visited a woman at a Mawson Lakes home earlier in the day. While at the home, three armed men attended and assaulted the victim before shooting him in the back.
The victim was then tied up and placed in his own vehicle and driven to Port Gawler by the men.
The suspects released the victim before they set his car on fire and left in an unknown vehicle.
A number of items were seized including the firearm allegedly used in the assault.
A 26-year-old woman from Mawson Lakes and a 36-year-old man from Fitzroy were arrested at the scene. They have both been charged with false imprisonment, firearms, drugs and weapon offences. They have been refused police bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are continuing with regards to the other two suspects.
Police would like to reassure the public that this is not a random incident.
