Police Arrest Two After City Apartment Assault

Two people were arrested shortly after allegedly assaulting a man in the city overnight.

Police were called to Pulteney Street, Adelaide about 1.15am on Tuesday 3 September by reports a man had been assaulted by a couple armed with a knife who had forced their way into his apartment.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The suspects activated the fire alarm on leaving the apartment building, causing everyone to evacuate.

Police searched the area for the suspects and pulled over a vehicle on North Terrace just before 2am.

A 49-year-old Adelaide man and a 42-year-old Birkenhead woman were arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and assault.

The man was also charged with breaching bail and was refused police bail to appear in court today.

The woman was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 13 November.

Crime scene investigators will attend and examine the scene this morning.
