Police arrest two after stolen car found in Elizabeth South, South Australia

Two men have been arrested after a stolen car was found at Elizabeth South today.

Police will allege that just after 6.30am today (Friday 8 January), three men forced their way into a house at Hoods Road, Northfield. They threatened the occupant with a firearm, before taking the keys to his Mercedes Benz sedan and driving off in the vehicle.

No one was injured during the break-in.

About 10.50am, a patrol spotted the Mercedes on John Rice Avenue at Elizabeth Vale. The stolen car was not pursued, and the police helicopter was used to track the vehicle to the Lyell McEwin Hospital car park where it was abandoned.

Extra patrols swarmed the area, and cordons were set up around the car park. The two occupants were arrested soon after.

The stolen Mercedes was located in the car park, and two firearms were located inside the vehicle.

The two suspects, a 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both of Andamooka were charged with numerous offences including aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle and firearms offences.

They were refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
