Two people have been arrested following an investigation into the dumping of seven puppies at Port Adelaide.
About 3pm on Saturday 30 March, police were alerted by a call from the public that seven Red Heeler puppies had been dumped from a vehicle near Moonta Road, adjacent to the Port River.
The seven puppies were given a clean bill of health and taken to a wonderful rescue organisation to find their forever homes.
Police appealed to the public to help track down the vehicle seen in the area where the puppies were abandoned.
Today, Tuesday 7 May, a 51-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man, both from Athol Park, were arrested and charged with seven counts of ill-treatment of an animal.
Western District CIB detectives, along with the RSPCA, attended their Athol Park address and seized three further dogs from the property.
It will be alleged police located the vehicle at the address.
The pair were bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 4 June.
