Police have arrested two people after a stolen car was dumped at Virginia this morning.
About 2.15am on Thursday 27 August police were patrolling in the Gepps Cross area when they spotted a stolen black Mazda sedan travelling along Cavan Road.
Police followed the car from a distance as it continued north onto Port Wakefield Road and headed towards Bolivar. Police activated lights and sirens and attempted to stop the car just prior to reaching the Northern Expressway however the driver refused to stop and sped off. The car was lost sight of and found abandoned a short time later just north of the expressway.
Patrols quickly set up cordons in the area and brought in Police Dog Operations PD Stoic to assist with the search. PD Stoic was able to pick up a track and found the two occupants near Huxtable Road where they were arrested.
A 15-year-old boy from Parafield Gardens was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and driving unlicenced. An 18-year-old man from Andrews Farm was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle. They were both bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth and Magsitrates Courts at a later date.
The Mazda was reported stolen from Modbury on 23 August.
