Police Assault, North Toowoomba

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following an incident at a North Toowoomba property where an officer was injured this morning, March 6.

At approximately 4.50am, police were called to a Gordon Street address following reports of a disturbance.

It is alleged when the man was confronted, he attempted to stab the officer with a screwdriver before allegedly biting him on the arm and running from the scene.

Police located the man at a nearby industrial yard where it will be alleged, he threatened officers with a hammer, and was taken into custody.

A 26-year-old Wilsonton man remains in police custody and is currently assisting police with their enquiries, with investigations ongoing.

The officer was taken to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
