A driver has been charged after a woman died in a car crash in the state's central west region on Sunday.
Just before 6pm on Sunday 9 February 2025, emergency services were called to Lake Canobolas Road, Nashdale, about 8kms west of Orange, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and found a car had left the road, over an embankment and crashed into a tree.
Despite the efforts of first responders, a passenger, a woman aged 42, died at the scene.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, was trapped in the vehicle before he was extricated.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was flown to Westmead Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
A crime scene was established and police, with the assistance of the Crash Investigation Unit, commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries by the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit, a 30-year-old man was today (Thursday 13 February 2025) charged with five offences - contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), negligent driving occasioning death, drive whilst disqualified, drive whilst unregistered and drive with minor defect.
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Friday 14 February 2025).
