Police Charge Driver for High Range DUI in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 39-year-old female driver in relation to a high range drink driving incident that occurred in Alice Springs on Sunday.

Around 9.00am, members of the Territory Road Policing Division stopped a Toyota Station Wagon for the purpose of a breath test on South Terrace in Alice Springs.

The 39-year-old female driver ultimately returned a breath analysis result of 0.153, more than three times the legal limit.

The driver was processed into custody and charged with High Range Drink Driving, Driving an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Driving an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

She was later released on bail to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on the 14 August.

Southern Road Policing Acting Senior Sergeant Conan Robertson said, "Northern Territory Police are committed to removing intoxicated drivers from our roads.

"This incident demonstrates that this type of offending can occur at any hour of the day, even in the morning. Just because you have had a sleep does not mean that you are sober and safe to drive a vehicle.

"You will continue to see our members conducting random breath testing anytime, anywhere."
