Police Charge Driver Over Fatal Lefroy Crash

A 25-year-old George Town woman has been charged over a fatal crash on Bridport Road at Lefroy on 22 March, 2024.

Two young children were taken to the George Town Hospital after the crash.

Sadly one of those children, a young boy, died a short time later.

The driver has since been summoned to appear in court on charges relating to multiple offences including causing death by negligent driving, negligent driving, driving while under the influence of a prescribed illicit drug, permit a passenger over 6 months but under 4 years to be unrestrained, permit a passenger aged over 4 years but under 7 years to be unrestrained, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle without a licence, and minor drug offences.

She is due to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in November.
