Police have charged four people as they investigate break and enters on the South Coast.
About 8.30am on (Tuesday 3 September 2024), officers attached to South Coast Police District Proactive Crime Team, Southern Region Enforcement Squad and the Dog Unit executed a search warrant at home in East Street, Nowra.
Three males aged 17, 23 and 34 were arrested.
The 23-year-old was charged with breach of bail.
The 34-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
The two adults were refused bail to appear before Nowra local Court yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2024).
The teenager was charged with two outstanding warrants.
He was refused bail and fronted a Children's Court yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2024).
During the search warrant, police seized a number of allegedly stolen items from the home.
Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident, about 3am on Sunday 1 August 2024, a Macleans Point Road, Sanctuary Point home was broken into.
A gaming console, iPad, wallet and handbag were stolen.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and seized CCTV.
Following inquiries, about 10.30am on Tuesday 3 September 2024, officers attached to South Coast Police District arrested a 38- year-old man in Moona Creek Road, Vincentia.
He was taken to Nowra Police and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - people there.
He was refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 29 October 2024.
Police will allege in court the man entered the home via an unlocked door.
South Coast Police District Commander, Superintendent Darren Brand is reminding locals of the importance of locking homes and vehicles to reduce the risk of becoming a target for would be offenders.
"The best protection from becoming a victim of opportunistic thieves is to lock your doors and windows and lock your vehicles. Don't leave valuables in plain sight, or spare keys out. Where possible install CCTV as a deterrent," Superintendent Brand said.
"Officers in the South Coast Police District and the Bay and Basin area are passionate about keeping their communities safe. It is incredibly important residents continue to report instances of crime. We will continue to work with the community and proactively patrol areas where there are higher rates of reported incidents of crime."
