Police charge four people after Midvale incident

Midland Detectives have charged four people in relation to an incident at a business in Midvale on Monday 4 May 2020, in which a man in his 30s was assaulted and forcibly restrained.

Around 11.25pm, the group allegedly smashed a window on a vehicle outside a business located on Hooley Road and when the owner came outside, they forced him back into the store.

It is further alleged the group used electrical cord to tie the victim to a stool before assaulting and threatening him with a machete and tomahawk. They also stole various items from the store.

Police attended the address and the offenders fled into the roof space in an attempt to escape arrest. Police located two people within the store and two in the roof space.

The victim was treated for swelling and bruising to his head.

A 35-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy all from Ellenbrook, and a 16-year-old boy from South Lake have each been charged with:-

• Aggravated Armed Robbery;

• Deprivation of Liberty;

• Aggravated Burglary and Commit;

• Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm;

• Stealing; and

• Criminal Damage.

The man is due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court and the juveniles before the Perth Children's Court today, 5 May 2020.
