Police charge man after 16 month investigation

Major Drug Squad detectives have charged a man and seized properties, cryptocurrency and cash after an extensive 16-month investigation into drug trafficking and unexplained wealth.

Detectives executed a search warrant at a Niland Rise, Templestowe address at 7am this morning.

Police actioned an unexplained wealth restraining order relating to two properties, a cryptocurrency multicoin wallet, and a bank account. They also seized a quantity of cash.

In June 2020, a commercial quantity of cocaine and significant quantity of cash were also seized.

A 39-year-old Templestowe man was arrested today and is currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.

He has been charged with traffick commercial quantity of cocaine, knowingly dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, possess prescription medication and firearms offences.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
