Police Charge Man After 2006 Armed Robbery

Eighteen years after the offence, and utilising advances in forensic technology, Detectives from Cold Case Investigations charged a 54-year-old man in relation to an armed robbery incident that occurred at a residential property in Southern River on Monday 9 October 2006.

It will be alleged about 8pm, the accused, who was disguised as a maintenance worker, falsely claimed he was sent to repair structural damage at the front of the property.

It will be further alleged the man armed with a knife, threatened and tied up the occupants of the residence before stealing various items and departing the premises.

A 54-year-old man from Ferndale was charged with:

• Three counts of Aggravated Armed Robbery;

• Three counts of Deprivation of Liberty; and

• One count of Aggravated Burglary and Commit Offence in Dwelling.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 4 February 2025.
