Police Charge Man After Aggravated Break-ins At Bourke

A man will face court charged following an investigation into reports of multiple break and enters in Bourke at the weekend.

About 2am on Sunday (18 August 2024), a man attempted to enter several rooms at a motel on Mertin Street, Bourke, before he entered two rooms and stole a wallet.

Officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the incidents.

Following inquiries, about 1pm yesterday (Monday 19 August 2024), police attended a home on Adelaide Street, Bourke, and arrested a 38-year-old man.

He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there, aggravated break and enter with intent-knowing person there, and two counts of break and enter dwelling-house with intent.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Bourke Local Court today (Tuesday 20 August 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 24 October 2024.
