Police Charge Man After Aggravated Robberies In Sydney

A man has been charged following a number of aggravated robberies in the state's north west.

About 7.30am on Sunday 7 July 2024, a 56-year-old man was on Roselea Park, Carlingford, when he was approached by two men who allegedly demanded his mobile phone and wallet.

When the man refused to hand them over, he was allegedly assaulted, with the men driving off in his vehicle.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

The man was taken to Hornsby Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries – he has since been released.

About 6.45pm on Monday (26 August 2024), a 77-year-old man was approached on Berry Street, Mount Druitt by a man.

The 35-year-old allegedly assaulted the man before fleeing the scene.

Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man was taken to Mount Druitt Hospital in a stable condition with bruising to face – he has since been released.

About 7.13pm on the same day, a 19-year-old woman was traveling on a train between St Marys and Kingswood, when a man came and sat behind her.

As the train approached the next stop, the man allegedly stole the woman's backpack and got off the train.

Officers attached to North West Police Transport and Public Safety Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following investigations, yesterday, (Wednesday 28 August 2024), specialist officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command located a 35-year-old man on Queen Street, St Marys.

The man was arrested following the execution of a warrant and taken to Penrith Police Station.

He was charged with:

  • One count of aggravated robbery
  • One count of aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm
  • One count of take & drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • One count of break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent to steal
  • One count of stalk/intimidate intend fer physical etc harm (personal)
  • One count of steal from the person value less than or equal to $2000

He was refused bail and appeared before Penrith Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 28 August 2024) and was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 29 August 2024).
