Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a police shooting in Alberton on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences including assault emergency worker and intentionally cause injury.
He was remanded overnight to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
The charges following an incident at the intersection of the South Gippsland Highway and Turnbull Street 11.20am on 1 December.
On police arrival a man allegedly charged at police with a weapon.
A policewoman was assaulted, and the man was subsequently shot by one of the officers.
He was struck to the upper body and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and has oversight by Professional Standards Command, as per protocol when any police firearm is discharged.
