Police Charge Man After Altona North Home Invasion

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged home invasion in Altona North earlier this week.

It is alleged two male offenders forced entry into a property on Mangan Court about 7.15pm on Monday, 16 September.

They were allegedly armed with axes and attacked one man inside.

A 36-year-old Altona North man sustained minor injuries.

A 34-year-old Point Cook man, who was also inside at the time, was not physically injured.

Police were told one of the occupants followed the men and confronted them with a weapon.

They fled the scene in a vehicle.

A 21-year-old man self-presented at hospital with a stab wound a short time later.

Once released from hospital, he was arrested and interviewed by detectives.

The Truganina man has been charged with home invasion, recklessly cause injury and assault with weapon.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 20 September.

One of the offenders remains outstanding and investigations are ongoing.
