Police Charge Man After Armed Robbery At Tamworth 17 June

A man will face court charged today following an armed robbery in Tamworth today.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to Bridge Street, Tamworth, about 2am (Monday 17 June 2024), and arrested a 20-year-old man inside the business.

Police were told staff at a fast-food restaurant were allegedly threatened with a baseball bat this morning.

The man, from Armidale, was taken to Tamworth Police Station where checks revealed he is wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The five employees in the restaurant at the time were shaken but not injured during the incident.

He was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

Police also executed an outstanding warrant for domestic violence-related offences.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Monday 17 June 2024).
