Police Charge Man After Armed Robbery In Balaclava

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Balaclava last night.

It is alleged that a man, armed with a knife, entered a pharmacy on Carlisle Street about 6pm.

The man allegedly made demands to a shopkeeper to hand over several items.

The man allegedly fled the scene on foot with various medications, before being spotted by Victoria Police Protective Services Officers.

Police arrested the man on Carlisle Street a short time later.

Investigators recovered a bag of medications.

The 20-year-old was charged with armed robbery and weapon related charges.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
