Police Charge Man After Ascot Vale Fatal Stabbing

Homicide Squad detectives have this afternoon charged a man following the fatal stabbing of a man in Ascot Vale on Saturday morning.

A 29-year-old Ascot Vale man was arrested by police at the scene and conveyed to hospital to be treated for minor injuries, where he remained under police guard.

He has this afternoon been charged with murder and common law assault.

The man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to reports of a man injured at a property on Churchill Avenue about 4am.

A 36-year-old Ascot Vale man was located with fatal stab wounds at the address.

Police believe the parties involved were known to each other.
