A man will face court after another man was stabbed in Sydney's south-west.
About 2.2am on Sunday (8 September 2024), emergency services were called to Macquarie Street, Liverpool, where they found a man with a wound to his chest.
Police were told a man was allegedly stabbed multiple times when he attempted to intervene after witnessing a man allegedly assaulting a woman on the street.
It is believed the injured man is not known to the pair.
The 44-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
The 39-year-old woman was not injured, and she assisted police with inquiries.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has commenced.
Following inquiries, about 10am today (Monday 9 September 2024), police arrested a 41-year-old man at an address in Rockdale area.
He was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with common assault (DV), affray, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 10 September 2024).
