A man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in state's south.
About 4pm today (Thursday 22 August 2024), emergency services were called to Bayliss Street, Wagga Wagga, following reports of a stabbing.
On arrival, officers attached to Riverina Police District spoke to a 55-year-old man.
Police were told the man was using a public toilet before he was allegedly assaulted and stabbed by another man.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics with injuries in his eye, nose and stab wounds to his neck and leg before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, about 11.20pm on Thursday (22 August 2024), officers arrested a 60-year-old man at an address on Sherwood Avenue, Kooringal.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (23 August 2024).
