Police Charge Man After Building Damaged - Marrickville

A man has been charged after a building was damaged twice in the Inner West this week.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command commenced an investigation after graffiti was located on an external wall of a building on Marrickville Road, Marrickville, about 1pm on Saturday 25 January 2025.

Just after 10am today (Wednesday 29 January 2025), Inner West detectives were patrolling Marrickville Road, Marrickville, when they saw a man allegedly spray painting the wall of the same building.

The 58-year-old man was arrested, and the spray can was seized.

He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with two counts of destroy or damage property and two counts of intentionally mark premises etc without consent – aggravated.

He was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 30 January 2025).
