Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after an alleged collision and assault in Port Melbourne last week.
Police will allege a man was struck by a vehicle while he was riding a scooter on Cruickshank Street on Thursday, 21 March about 11.40pm.
Officers believe the impact of the vehicle caused the rider to fall off the scooter before a verbal altercation occurred between the pair.
Allegedly, the driver exited the vehicle and struck the rider with an object before fleeing the scene.
The rider, a 33-year-old Port Melbourne man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, a 37-year-old Port Melbourne man, has been charged with conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, intentionally cause injury, fail to exchange details and fail to render assistance after accident.
He was bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 7 May.
