Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following the deaths of two people in a crash in Echuca on Sunday.
It is believed a vehicle travelling along the Murray Valley Highway left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire near Mount Terrick Road just after 12.30pm.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, a 26-year-old Moama woman and an 11-year-old Echuca boy died at the scene.
The 23-year-old Echuca driver has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving cause death.
He has been bailed to appear at Echuca Magistrates' Court on 23 January.
