Police Charge Man After Dumbalk North Firearms Incident

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a firearms incident in Victoria's south-east on Thursday.

Investigators from the Illicit Firearms Squad attended a Foster-Mirboo Road address in Dumbalk North to execute a firearms warrant about 1.30pm on 24 October.

It is alleged a man who resides at the address fired shots at detectives.

They returned fire and were not injured during the incident.

The man was located injured at the property just after 5pm and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 56-year-old man has been charged with:

• discharge a firearm at police officers

• reckless conduct endangering life

• 5 x assault emergency workers

• discharge firearm being reckless to the safety of a police officer on duty

• prohibited person possess firearm and ammunition.

He was remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court this evening.
