Police Charge Man After Evade In Hoppers Crossing

A man has been charged after allegedly evading police and being found in possession of drugs and a weapon in Hoppers Crossing last night.

Police, as part of Operation Shows, approached a stationary silver Mitsubishi Pajero in Don Avenue about 12am.

The Mitsubishi allegedly took off at a fast rate of speed.

Despite police attempting to intercept the Mitsubishi by activating lights and sirens, the vehicle allegedly failed to stop.

Police kept eyes on the Mitsubishi as it was allegedly dumped at a property on Durham Crescent.

Officers quickly moved in and arrested four men and a woman in a nearby backyard.

A 39-year-old Werribee man, a 30-year-old Hoppers Crossing man and a 39-year-old Hoppers Crossing woman were interviewed by police and released pending further enquiries.

A 36-year-old Werribee man was bailed regarding unrelated matters.

A 40-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was charged with evade police, possess controlled weapon, posses methamphetamine and driving offences.

He was bailed to appear before Werribee Magistrates' Court on 23 January 2025.

Operation Shows, a regular operation in the Wyndham area, sees local police work alongside specialist units including the Air Wing, Dog Squad and Highway Patrol to target car thefts and subsequent dangerous driving in the area.
