Police Charge Man After Evade In Hoppers Crossing 20 December

Police have charged a man after he allegedly evaded police in Hoppers Crossing overnight.

Officers observed an allegedly stolen white Nissan utility with false registration plates travelling at speed along Derrimut Road around 12.40am.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, but it allegedly drove off.

With the assistance of the Air Wing, officers followed the ute along Doherty's Road, before vehicle immobilisation devices were deployed at the intersection of Leakes Road and Sayers Road.

While attempting to avoid the devices, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the front of a nearby restaurant.

It is believed the man fled from the scene, before he was quickly located by the Dog Squad.

Police will allege the ute was stolen from a Woori Yallock address in September.

The 29-year-old man has been charged with conduct endangering person, dangerous driving at speed, exceed speed limit, driving in a manner dangerous to the public, evade police, theft of motor vehicle, affix false plates and unlicensed driving.

The Werribee man was bailed to appear before Werribee Magistrates' Court on 17 June 2025.
