Police Charge Man After Evade In Southern Tasmania

Police have charged a 39-year-old man with numerous offences relating to firearms, breach of bail, driving while disqualified, evade police, dangerous driving and possessing a dangerous article in a public place.

Around 2.15 pm yesterday, police received reports of an armed person in Redwood Road, Kingston.

Investigations established that the armed man had left the area in a white Holden Commodore.

A coordinated response resulted in the successful spiking of the vehicle which was located abandoned a short time later in Tolmans Hill.

Police subsequently searched the area and located and arrested a man police will allege was the driver of the vehicle.

The man appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has information or vision of the white Holden Commodore in the Kingston and Tolmans Hill area between 1.30 and 2.30pm yesterday.
