Police Charge Man After Fail-to-stop Crash At Cooma

A man has been charged after an alleged fail-to-stop crash in the state's south.

About 1:30am yesterday (Saturday 4 January 2025), emergency services were called to Mittagang Road, Cooma following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers attached to Monaro Police District found a 23-year-old man suffering serious injuries after allegedly being hit by a car.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, allegedly left the scene prior to police arrival.

The 23-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a head injury before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.

About 3:30pm today (Sunday 5 January 2025), a 22-year-old man attended Queanbeyan Police station where he was charged with:

  • Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm
  • Cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a Motor vehicle
  • Fail to stop and render assistance
  • Not give particulars to other driver
  • Drive while licence suspended.

He was refused bail and appeared at Queanbeyan Local Court today, Sunday 5 January 2025.
