Police Charge Man After Fatal Boat Crash - Wilberforce

A man has been charged after a woman died following a boat crash in Sydney's northwest in February this year.

In February 2024, officers attached to Marine Area Command commenced an investigation into the death of a 32-year-old woman who died after the boat she was a passenger in crashed into a riverbank on the Hawkesbury Rover, Wilberforce.

Immediately after the collision the driver of the boat – a 38-year-old man – was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing, which later returned a positive result for alcohol.

About 9.00am yesterday (Tuesday 18 June 2024), police arrested the 38-year-old man. He was taken to Windsor Police Station where he was charged with dangerous navigation occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Windsor Local Court on Thursday 11 July 2024.

His boating licence has been suspended.
