Police charge man after fatal collision in Doncaster East

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a pedestrian was killed in Doncaster East on 30 June.

It's alleged a car reversed out of a carpark and struck a pedestrian at a shopping centre on Doncaster Road around 1.20pm.

Sadly the pedestrian, an 81-year-old Doncaster man, died at the scene.

An 82-year-old Box Hill North man was charged yesterday with careless driving and driving a motor vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public causing death.

He has been bailed to attend the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 17 November.
