Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash At Colo Vale

A man has been charged following a fatal crash in the state's Southern Highlands region overnight.

Just before 6pm yesterday (Tuesday 2 July 2024), emergency services were called to Colo Road at Colo Vale, near Bowral, following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.

Officers from the Hume Police District arrived to find a man had been struck by a Volkswagen station wagon.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man, believed to be in his 80s, however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this crash commenced.

Following inquiries, the man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, and his licence was suspended.

He was refused bail to appear before Picton Local Court later today (Wednesday 3 July 2024).
