A man has been charged over a fatal multi-vehicle crash in Sydney's west in 2022.
About 4.30pm Friday 2 December 2022, emergency services were called to the M4 motorway at Prospect, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command attended and found nine vehicles, including a truck, had collided.
A total of 21 people were assessed on the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, with three people taken to hospital for treatment.
The 47-year-old driver of the truck was taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory testing.
On 19 December 2022, police were informed a driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash – a 64-year-old man – had died.
Following extensive inquiries from officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit, police attended a correctional facility in Silverwater today (Monday 16 September 2024), where a 47-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice for four offences.
Those offences include dangerous driving occasioning death – drive under influence, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive under the influence, negligent driving (occasioning death) and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
He is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 17 September 2024).
His licence was also suspended.
